Immortality Fight Night Summaries

1. Brendan Jefferys (RED) vs. Thomas Booth (BLUE)

In round one, the young warriors came out with a flurry of straight punches to the head with Jefferys adding rear legs to the thigh. In round 2 the youngsters battled it out evenly until Jefferys threw a superman punch and it became a standing 8 count. In round 3 both boys hurled everything they had-kicks and punches to the head resulting in Booth receiving another standing 8 count due to a hook. The referee stopped the fight due to Booth being dazed. WINNER by TKO – Brendan Jefferys


2. Ben Jones (RED) vs. Frank Spiropoulous (BLUE)

From the time the ref put his hand down to signal the start of the match, the two fighters came out ferociously, throwing punches and was a very even battle. The 2nd round saw Jones sweep Spiropoulous early on with a catch and kick. In round 3 Jones let loose a barrage of crosses to the head and knees to the body and Spiropoulos ended up on the ground.

3. Epi Valenzuela (RED) vs. Joel Carauna (BLUE)

This fight started off slow with both fighters having a feel for each other. In round 2 Valenzuela was constantly faking attacks then throwing kicks to the body which were connecting brilliantly to Carauna’s ribs. Valenzuela constantly changed his stance from southpaw to orthodox which confused Carauna, but he managed to get in a few kicks of his own to Valenzuela’s mid-section. In the next two rounds, both men showed a great display of solid knees and strong kicks. Valenzuela threw Carauna to the canvas and pummelled the ribs of Carauna with kicks which resulted a visibly red mid section. This fight could have gone either way.

4. Jay Habib (RED) vs. Dean Xurab (BLUE)

There was tension even before the fight started with Jay Habib staring down the boy out of Penrith, Dean Xurab constantly even throughout the Waikru. When the bell started both men came out fast and furious with punches and Xurab received a standing 8 count in the first 10 seconds. The second round saw grappeling with a few knees thrown in and Habib managed a few downward elbows. In the 5th and final round Habib continued to throw quick elbows to the head and the boys grappled again with Xurab throwing knees and Habib to the floor. WINNER by DECISION – Dean Xurab

5. Lawrence Rahipere (RED) vs. Steve Semani (BLUE)

The only MMA fight of the night saw both men starting off very quickly with Semani throwing Rahipere to the canvas, and both men had goes at trying to submit each other.  Rahipere managed to palm the face of  Semani who defended himself through some unorthodox slapping. In the second round,  Semani once again took Rahipere down. The fight went back and forth with Semani  behind Rahipere trying to initiate a Rear Naked Choke and then  Rahipere ended up on top of Semani trying to lock in the Kamura. Rahipere did a quick switch to lock in an arm bar with Semani having to tap out. You can watch the fight here.

6. Rowan Meyerowits (RED) vs. Oli Garas (BLUE)

Round one had Meyerowits connecting with Garas with some awesome punches, rear kick combos and downward elbows. In round 2 both fighters connected elbows in the clinch and Meyerowits was able to catch Garas’ kicks and sweep his opponent to the floor. Both men threw knees in the clinch. Meyerowits constantly threw downward elbows to the top of the head.Throughout the fight Meyerowits connected knees and elbows in the grapple, whilst Garas tried keeping him away with push kicks. In the final round Meyerowits caught and swept Garas into a grapple.

7. Patrick Poblette (RED) vs. Luke Sullivan (BLUE)

No time was wasted with both fighters quickly getting into a grapple, both exchanging knees, and Poblette throwing a few elbows in.  In round 2, Poblette opened the round with fierce punches, uppercuts, and elbows in a grapple and he served a colossal over hand right which sent Sullivan to the canvas. In round 3 Poblette again came out swinging hooks, straights and uppercuts which Sullivan had covered. In the 4th round the  fighters got tangled in a grapple once again with Sullivan throwing a multitude of knees and Poblette landing elbows. In the 5th and seemingly short round, both men came out to finish an intense match with kicks and punches.

8. Joe “KILLA” Concha (RED) vs. Joel Fisher (BLUE)

This fight is a big Step up for Joe Concha he did well against a much experienced fighter. 

This fight started off slow with both fighters feeling each other out and  both men landed a few kicks to the body and head. Fisher appearing to be fighting very side on. In round 2 Concha was able to land vicious inside leg kicks and powerful crosses. In the 4th both fighters threw kicks to the body with the majority connecting. Fisher threw some great spinning elbows with one connecting above the right eye. Concha was able to avoid all head kicks being aimed at him. The 5th and final round saw many elbows and Concha constantly wiping the blood from his face through the severely cut right eye .

9. Von Badato (RED) vs. Daniel Homes (BLUE)

Daniel Homes weighed in at 67.5kg against a much lighter Von Badato at 65kg.

Badato stepped up against an experienced Full Contact Karate Fighter.

This fight was a immense start to the first of the five main events. In the opening round both fighters started off in a grapple exchanging a flurry of knees, Badato connecting with elbows and a sweep. Badato caught a kick and threw an almighty cross which downed the fighter from Jabout gym. In the 2nd round both men came out with connecting punches and kicks. Badato showed a resemblance to his older brother Reinhardt by moving forward constantly. There was a grapple and Badato elbowed Homes on  the forehead which resulted in a few cuts. Badato gave the crowd a display of connecting jumping elbows. In each grapple Von would throw Homes to the floor with Homes struggled to get back on his feet. Badato continued to land a whole host of elbows. In round 3 older brother Reinhardt instructs Von to use uppercuts and elbows. Blood runs down the face of Daniel Homes and he struggles to keep it out of his eyes and mouth. Badato manages to flip him over and the Homes corner thought it was time to call it quits and he didn’t come out for the 4th round.

10. Cheyne Rees Australia (RED) vs. George Micorous Greece

The fight between the Pacific and the Mediterranean for the WKBF World Title.

In the opening round both men promptly found themselves in a grapple, both connecting a whole host of knees to the body and both fighters battled it out, striking one after the other with leg kicks. In the 2nd round Rees came out connecting countless kicks to the leg inside and out. Rees also connected kicks to the head and Micorous landed kicks to the body. In the third round Micorous fought hard landing some good straight shots. Rees continued to connect remarkable kicks to the body but Micorous punched out of it. In the 4th,  Micorous continued to throw straight punches, whereas Rees would counter with kicks to the thigh and to the body. Micorous also landed tough kicks to the body. The fifth round started with lots of kicks and Micorous’ right thigh clearly appeared red through his already colourful tattoo!.  In the 6th round it appeared to be all Cheyne Rees for the Title with him connecting several 4 punch combinations followed up by a 2 kick combo. Rees evaded all Micorous threw at him. In the 7th and final round both men fought relentlessly. Cheyne Rees countered everything Micorous threw at him. Rees threw a violent kick to the head that made Micorous kiss the canvas. Cheyne Rees became WKBF world champion.

11. Michael Badato Australia (RED) vs. Allesandro Vidoni (BLUE) Italy

The crowd stood up for the National Anthem of Italy and Australia. As the bell struck, Vidoni was the first to start his attack but  Badato just seemed to evade all shots fired towards him. Badato decided to show off his own attack with switch kicks landing to the head of the Italian.  In round 2, Badato came out strong early in the round with powerful hooks and overhands followed up by kicks.  The fighters got caught up in a grapple and were separated by the ref. Michael then jumped straight in with brutal elbows and crosses. In the 3rd round, the two fighters came out with spinning elbows and  throughout the round Badato would make sure that his opponent knew that his attempts to land shots on him were of no effect. Vidoni’s shots appeared to be slow due to Badato’s quick evasion. In the 4th Badato seemed to be following the commands given to him by his corner with double jab elbow/punch and all connecting. Badato sent out a powerful leg kick which dropped Vidoni. Vidoni once again seemed slow due to the evasion of Badato. In the 5th Badato would connect all punches he threw after the ref separated the fighter’s from yet another grapple. In the 6th round all Vidoni threw, Badato dodged and he was landing  the most obvious of jabs through the guard of Vidoni. In the 7th and final round with Badato looking to finish it he threw everything he had  - punches, elbows, knees and kicks whilst listening intently to all instructions given by his corner. Michael Badato, the younger brother of two other World champions captured his own World Kickboxing Federation (WKBF) World Championship title. At the post-fight interview Badato made a startling flashback to his older brother Reinhardt by becoming World Champion… then proposed in front of the Australian Kickboxing World to his long time girlfriend Ljupka Hornjak.

12. Shane Meads Australia (RED) vs. Erik Nosa (BLUE) NZL 

One of the most anticipated matches due to the return of Shane “The Monster” Meads did not disappoint at all. In the opening round as most would have expected, both fighters quickly got into a brawl and wasted no time trying to knock each other out. Eric Nosa threw an overhand right which dropped the Monster for a standing 8 count. Meads then returned with a brutal cross to knockdown Nosa for a standing 8 of his own! In the 2nd round at break time Shane seemed to be listening intently to McKinnon’s instructions, and Meads came out and clinched Nosa firing a massive amount of knees to the body. Meads would counter Nosa’s kicks with straight punches. The big gigantic men brawled relentlessly with Meads throwing solid knees in the grapple. Each time in the grapple Nosa struggled not to stagger from Mead's kneeing his head. In the 3rd round Meads came out grappling Nosa and constantly kneed Nosa’s body and Nosa receiving a standing 8 count. Through the round Meads would continue to clinch Nosa and knee, whilst Nosa moved out of the grapple and threw wild punches. Nosa connected with a solid left hook to make Meads wobble and he received another standing 8 count. In the 4th Meads came out with switch kicks, at the same time Nosa threw heavy punches. Nosa fired another left hook which left the monster staggering and uneasy on his feet forcing the ref to stop the very intense fight.

13. Steven Mckinnon Australia (RED) vs. Hrvoje Kisicek (BLUE) Croatia

The bout that headlined Immortality, Australia vs. Croatia had finally arrived. This main event had started at 1pm and the large crowd still remained to watch Steve Mckninnon vs. Hrvoje Kisicek who trains out of the Cro – Cop Gym . The Australian came out firing with constant switch kicks to the head, whilst Kisicek came out with solid straight punches.  Both men exchanged shots to the head with Mckninnon now aiming his massive switch kicks to the body. When the bell rang to signal the end of the round, Kisicek walked away to his corner with a severely cut right eyebrow. In the 2nd round Mckninnon came out firing with the switch kicks again and Kisicek had blood dripping from above his eye. While Mckinnon continued to fire his relentless switch kicks, Kisicek punched his way out of the round.  The fight was stopped during the break due to the severity of the Croatian’s cut. Australia and Mckinnon became victorious.
