Excessive Force invited Shane Nix to tell us about himself and how he became involved in MMA.
SHANE: Watching early UFC's inspired me and made me realise that there was a lot more to fighting, other than just boxing and kickboxing. I have had a passion for it ever since.
SHANE: I began training with a friend, Troy Tattersall, in his home gym and backyard when I was 16-18. I then moved on to Steve Percival, Sinosic & Perosh and Penrith Elite.
SHANE: Monday, Wednesday and Friday I train twice a day. In the mornings I focus on strength, conditioning and I will do either grappling or wrestling. In the evenings I focus on one of the three components of fighting - either wrestling, grappling or stand up. Tuesday nights is boxing, Wednesday nights I MMA spar, Thursday nights its wrestling. On Saturday morning I MMA spar and in the afternoon I focus on cardio. Sunday is usually a rest day but I will sneak in some light cardio..
SHANE: My Ground and Pound and my Tenacity.
SHANE: The ultimate for me would be to fight in the UFC. Hopefully I will get there one day!
SHANE: Georges St Pierre because he is an absolute genetic freak in the octagon, who has immence strenght and amazing technique. He is the full package, totally unstoppable.
